Portraits
A portrait is much more than a physical likeness, that is the easy part. For me a portrait is successful when it allows a subtle exchange to take place between the viewer and the subject of the portrait. I started making drawings of friends and family when I was about twelve. I make different kinds of portraits, from simple, abstracted, pencil sketches to elaborate, allegorical oil paintings, and everything in-between. Here is a small selection of the hundreds of portraits I have made over the years. Some were commissioned, others are of people I have approached to sit for me.
